Abstract
Romania, an absence! Is an essay in which the writer Barutiu T. Arghezi, the son of the
classic Romanian writer TudorArghezi, is crying the horrors, the human sufferances and the abuse
as he puts it into the words: ,,Somebody’s death means someone else’s victory.
The author is outraged that history books talk only about two forces of the World War
during the period 1939-1945: the Allies and Hitler’s Germans and the participation of Romania
and its historical fights from 23 august 1944 to the Second World War are overlooked. The death
of thousands of people as well as the fights for the liberation of Hungary and Czechoslovak are kept
under silence. There are no records concerning the missing or death of over a million soldiers or
about the bravery of the Romanian soldier.
Romania was refused the write of cobelligerent country fighting along the Allies forces and
a reconsideration of the historic truth is necessary.
