Abstract

In order to outline the most exactly possible the activity by a fascinating proportion of the

one who named himself, concourse of events, Wexler, Fundoianu or Fondane, a foray in his

tumultuous biography is indispensable.

This work disciplines the ill-assorted information supplied by different bibliographic

sources, in the Romanian stage in the existence of Fundoianu, but also in the stage after his

volunteer exile in France, once with his dignified registration in the paradigm of the Romanian

writer by French expression.

Without falling, of course, in the trap of a biographical critic, we estimate that, doubtless,

the existential itinerary has often a fundamental relevance in a writer’s creation. More, a worry

existence and a tormented conscience, as the conscience of Fundoianu / Fondane proved to be,

requires such an approach.
