M. EMINESCU – STUDENT IN VIENNA AND BERLIN

Abstract

Worried about the wanderings of his son with the theatre troups, Gheorghe Eminovici

decides to send Mihai to study in Vienna.

On October the 2

University in Vienna he attends also other lectures of some famous professors of the time.

In parallel with his studies, Eminescu visited also museums, art galleries, the Opera or

Burgtheater. There he met other Romanians who were studying in the capital of the Habsbugic

Empire ,and among them, Ioan Slavici.

While studying in Vienna and Berlin, Mihai Eminescu wrote many of his poems such as

Venera si Madona, Epigonii, Mortua Est.

In Vienna M.Eminescu met Veronica Micle and so, it started the most beautiful love story in

the Romanian literature.

nd 1869 Mihai Eminescu leaves for Vienna to study philosophy. At the

The time spent in Vienna and Berlin is the most beautiful period in the poet’s life and is less

known.
