DENOMINAREA LUMII ANIMALE (II)
Abstract
The present study investigates the Istro-Romanian terms of Latin origin in the lexical-semantic area of animals (the underclass of wild animals). An overview of these terms recording in the literature dented to Istro-Romanian lexis reveals their highly vulnerable and outdated character in the general vocabulary of this variety. The scarce and limited evidence of some of these words is justified by the peripheral nature of this lexical-semantic class and by the powerful competition with Croatian borrowings which tend to replace them.
REZUMAT
Studiul nostru îşi propune să investigheze termenii istroromâni de origine latină din câmpul lexico-semantic al regnului animal. Verificarea atestării acestor termeni în lucrările dedicate lexicului istroromân scoate în evidenţă caracterul extrem de vulnerabil şi perimat al acestora în ansamblul vocabularului istroromân. Atestările sărace şi izolate ale unora dintre cuvinte se justifică prin caracterul periferic al acestei clase lexico-semantice şi prin concurenţa puternică venită din partea împrumuturilor croate cu care sunt înlocuite.
