Abstract
The present study does not propose to analyze the Transsylvanian musical dialect, at the level of the entire traditional musical creation (lament, carol, ritual harvest song, ritual wedding song, doina), but refers only to one of the categories of the musical genre – the proper song. This knows both at the level of this region (Transsylvania), and at the level of the entire Romanian area, the widest expansion, but also the most spectacular transformations, that imposed the aesthetic side in the close-up of dialectal study.
Dialect represented, and still represents an open subject, as aestheticians reproach the limitative mode of approach of folklorists. These argue that philologist theoreticians impose a unique criterion of aesthetic assessment, namely the contemporary one, the refined contemplator’s, acquired by a sustained reading and marked by a long literary history.
Structurally, problems are a little different, due to the fact that, from the literary point of view, there are distinguished two message forms. On one side, that directly detached from dialectal (rural) literature and on the other side the things that belong to the literary language (but that have as a support the first category). Musical analysis has at its bases the principles and characteristics imposed by the historical (old, premodern, modern and new) styles, that crystallized on the coordinates of time, space, community, and not least, human personality.
These historical styles are joined by area (territorial) styles.
Being a study with limited exposure, we approached dialectal analysis only from the musical point of view, the literary side making the object of another study.
