Abstract
This paper aims to tackle a relatively new theme in the philological research, our main purpose being to find a link between two different fields of research: paremiology and translation studies. Translating proverbs is a laborious process, caused by the complexity of the units extracted from the community’s wisdom, but also by the lack of a theory or strategies that can facilitate their transposition to a different language and culture. In this article, we realize a brief presentation of the most important theoretical aspects of the process of translating proverbs. We have included the solutions and the contribution to the topic revealed by Julia Sevilla Muñoz, Gloria Corpas Pastor, Mona Baker, and Eugeniu Coşeriu’s translation theory. Proverbs used as representation were collected from the Hispanic and Romanian culture.
Résumé
Cet article vise à approcher une problématique relativement nouvelle dans la recherche philologique, notre principal objectif étant de trouver un lien entre deux domaines de recherche différents: la parémiologie et la traductologie. La traduction des proverbes est un processus laborieux du fait de la complexité des unités issues de la sagesse populaire ainsi que du manque d’une théorie ou des stratégies qui en facilitent la transposition dans une langue et une culture différentes. Dans cet article, nous faisons une brève présentation des aspects théoriques les plus importants du processus de traduction des proverbes. Nous sommes partis des postulats et de la contribution de Julia Muñoz Sevilla, Gloria Corpas Pastor, Mona Baker, et de la théorie de la traduction d’Eugeniu Coşeriu. Les proverbes pris comme exemple ont été recueillis des cultures hispanique et roumaine.
Rezumat
Lucrarea de faţă îşi propune abordarea unei problematici relativ noi în cercetarea filologică, demersul principal fiind acela de a găsi o conexiune între două arii de investigaţii distincte: paremiologia şi traductologia. Traducerea proverbelor reprezintă un proces sinuos, aspect nutrit de complexitatea frazelor izvorâte din înţelepciunea populară, dar şi de lipsa unor teorii sau a unor strategii clare care să înlesnească transpunerea lor într-o limbă şi o cultură diferite. În prezentul articol, efectuăm o scurtă incursiune asupra principalelor direcţii de traducere a proverbelor. Am avut în vedere postulatele şi contribuţiile Juliei Sevilla Muñoz, ale Gloriei Corpas Pastor, ale Monei Baker, dar şi teoria lui Eugeniu Coşeriu asupra traductologiei. Proverbele exemplificate au fost colectate din cultura română şi cultura spaniolă.
