Dificultăţi în traducerea proverbelor lui Vuk Stefanović Karadžić în română
The aim of this study is to identify some existing obstacles in the process of translating of inter-lingual idiomatic pairs, proverbs and sayings and to suggest some weighty theoretical strategies to overcome these difficulties. The sayings and proverbs are the elements of wit and wisdom of a people both having the force of thoughts and metaphors, of intelligence and spiritual wisdom, power of observation, experience in argumentation and finding truths in life. Real power of language is to express much in few words. A particular challenge is to translate sayings and proverbs from one language to another. Contrary to the sayings, proverbs are translated easily, because each carries universal idea, well mixed, which can exist independently. Often certain situation in life can be found in different sayings and proverbs with the same effects, which can be seen by comparing the words collected by Vuk Karadzic in Serbia. Vuk Karadzic wished to keep from oblivion Serbian proverbs, and to contribute to their entrance into everyday conversation, and to give magnitude and expressiveness.
