Abstract

The creation of Camil Petrescu is, undoubtely, under the sign of feminality, his characters, even in the way, sometimes mysoginist, of approaching exhale an exuberant sensuality. The intelectual delight and love come to the limit of sublime, and the impulsive gesture can purify the sexual moment itself. Here every character sublimates his existence with the hero, that, usually, purifies himself through death. Camil Petrescu does not risk a cheap romantism, the clue being interrupted in the unexpected moment. The love is stopped as a gain of humanity and the details happen beyond the natural of the story. By presenting a world with its multiple sides, indistinguishable, Camil Petrescu recreates the life of the novel, the act itself having the significance of the genesis of facts. The Camilian couple looks for each other, but, only the man is the one really commited in a love – battle and often capitulates because of the impossibility of supporting such a challenge. In this type of couple an emotional mutuality is needed to inflect itself above good and evil.
