Abstract
Both as a cultural personality and as a literary one, Stefan A. Doinas, unveiled his
encyclopedic spirit with each and every occasion. The artistry of his verse is mostly represented, as
the exegetist I. MihuŃ remarked, by his „genuine ・・slaloms・・“ through the various lexical
compartments of the Romanian language, skilfully associating archaisms with neologisms, regional
or popular words with cultured or scholastic terms. The high genuine academic level that the poet
reached through his studies, as well as through his exemplary preoccupations for permanent selfteaching,
do not exclude his popular and regional linguistic culture acquired during childhood in
his native village, in the county of Arad. On the other hand, this linguistic compartment of his work
relies on the thorough knowledge of the art of his fellow poets, both ancestors and contemporaries.
The here present thesis/paper intends to analyse the contribution of the nouns of a popular,
regional or archaic origin to the poetry of the volume
awarded a prize -„Sburătorul“ – of the association „micii lui E. Lovinescu“ in 1947.
