Abstract
The authors’ desire to renew linguistic resources, to look up for new ways of drawing the readers’ attention is reflected in the contemporary Russian mass-media. The survey carried out showed that the journalistic text from the contemporary media includes many elements of intertextuality that require a special understanding on two levels: the first one refers to the language and the second is related to culture, fact that often makes it harder for the translator to do his job. The work experience with the Russian journalistic text has proved that, in many cases, the translator, who is not a native speaker, has to deal with certain „linguistic puzzles” that codify the reality of Russian life by means of different elements of intertextuality.
