Abstract
The Academician Emil Petrović (1899-1968) originally from Mali Torak (Begejci), Serbia was one of the best Romanian linguist and one of the most famous Romanian slavist. The main concern of Emil Petrović’s linguistic was dialectology and his greatest contribution to the development of the Romanian Linguistic Atlas and study of Slavic speech in Romania and their intertwining with the Romanian language. As slavist, Emil Petrović gave a remarkable contribution to the study of speech Slavic ethnic minorities in Romania – the Serbs, Bulgarians, Ukrainians. Emil Petrović’s research in the field of Romanistic and Slavic and general linguistics, presents scientific legacy that’s extremely valuable, not only at national but also at international level.
