Abstract
The study entitled Yasunari Kawabata, Snow Country. On mono no aware or the beauty of simple and ephemeral things tries to explore the famous Japanese novel from the perspective of the beautiful as equivalent to the nothingness, the void, sublimed towards transcendence, revealed within the world for the human being under the shape of beautiful passing or ephemeral things. Japanese aesthetics defines this ”movement of soul” as mono no aware. Yasunari Kawabata’s novel offers the contemporary man, sometimes angered at his absurd existence, such a subtle suggestion. The whole universe is filled with a certain sadness of things, a melancholy feeling, a hint of resigned solitude, which art is meant to reveal vaguely and unravel partially.
