Abstract
An important place in the outlook of Vasile Goldiş was occupied, apart from the issues of causality and social determinism, as well as the culture-civilization relationship, by the principles of freedom, equality and national independence.
His contribution to the development of Romanian education at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century must be seen in relation to this conception.
As a teacher, he sought to formulate a healthy national awareness in his pupils, with great mobilizing prerogatives, in a stage when the Romanian people had major national ideals to accomplish.
As an author of textbooks he contributed to the enlargement of information in Romanian schools.
